2017 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
DON PIEPER SCHOLARSHIP
MAGGIE ANDERSON – Maggie is a 2017 graduate of John Hersey High School where she played varsity golf for four years and was part of the Teacher Intern program. She is passionate about teaching and recently went to Hungary on a mission trip to teach English to children. Maggie is going into her freshman year at Taylor University, majoring in Psychology. This is Maggie’s first year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
– Rebecca is a 2015 graduate of John Hersey High School where she played golf and badminton for four years and was on honor roll for seven semesters. She is passionate about charity work, acting as a leader for Love Your Melon and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Rebecca is going into her junior year at Indiana Wesleyan University, majoring in Chemistry. This is Rebecca’s third year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
Brendan is a 2016 graduate of Naperville North High School where he was the captain of the varsity golf team, involved in the Top Dawgs Leadership Program, and played on the volleyball team for two years. He just started his second year as a Professional Golf Management (PGM) student at University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He enjoys being part of the UNL club golf team and volunteering at a local Boy Scout council assisting children in an after school program. This is Brendan’s second year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
Lauren is a 2013 graduate of Canton High School where she captained the volleyball and soccer teams and was involved in student council, cheerleading, and was the Junior Class Officer. She now attends University of Illinois as an Animal Science major. She recently finished an internship at the Peoria Zoo and now works in piglet research in the Piglet Nutrition and Cognition Lab at University of Illinois. This is Lauren’s fourth year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
- Kelly is a 2014 graduate of Aurora Central Catholic High School where she played on three varsity sports teams - basketball, soccer, and dance. She is passionate about volunteering at Feed my Starving Children and Hesed House. Kelly is currently a senior at University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Psychology. She is on the UIC nationally ranked dance team and recently received the 2017 leadership award. This is Kelly’s 4th
year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
– Andrew is a 2017 graduate of Lake Forest High School where he played on two-varsity sports teams - cross-country and swimming. He is passionate about volunteering for Feed my Starving Children and Little Linkers. Andrew is going into his freshman year at Iowa State University, majoring in Business and Marketing. This is Andrew’s first year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
Austin is a 2015 graduate of Elk Grove High school, where he was a High Honors Graduate, involved in National Honor Society, and an integral part of the High School baseball team. Austin is currently in his third year at Murray State University majoring in Engineering Physics; he is also a member of the University’s baseball team. This is Andrew’s third year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
– Isabella Stackhouse is a 2015 graduate of Lake Forest High school where she was the Editor and Photographer for the school newspaper and a member of the women’s club. She is passionate about teaching and has taught Sunday school for early childhood. She also enjoys photography, helping with video production for various events at college. Isabella is going into her junior year at Calvin College, majoring in early childhood education and elementary education. This is Isabella’s third year receiving the Don Pieper renewable scholarship.
OSCAR MILES SCHOLARSHIP
-Jack is a 2014 graduate of Harry D. Jacobs High school in Algonquin, IL where he was part of the varsity golf and hockey teams, Student Leadership Group, and enjoyed volunteering at the local food pantry. Jack is starting his senior year at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, majoring in Professional Golf Management. This past summer he completed an internship at prestigious Oakmont Country Club. This is Jack’s 4th
year receiving the Oscar Miles renewable scholarship.
ALICE MEYER BROWN SCHOLARSHIP
Eva is a 2017 graduate of New Trier Township High School and first year recipient of the Alice Meyer Brown scholarship. Eva didn’t start playing golf until her high school years. She admits she was horrible when she first started, but now it’s a game she has fallen in love with and taken to the collegiate level. Eva plays on the Ithaca College golf team, where she is a freshman majoring in journalism.
Lindsay is a 2014 graduate of Trinity High School in River Forest. She was the valedictorian of her class, an Illinois State Scholar, and a member of the National Honor Society. She was an integral part of the varsity golf team and a member of the IJGA and MAJGT. Lindsay is currently a senior at Bucknell University majoring in political science. She is an essential part of the women’s golf team and has earned All-conference honors for the past two seasons. This is Lindsay’s fourth year receiving the Alice Meyer Brown scholarship.
LOUIS M. BROWN SCHOLARSHIP
Ethan is a 2017 graduate of Prairie Ridge High School, where he maintained a 4.0 GPA and achieved High Honor Roll all four years. Ethan was the golf team MVP and High School Conference Player of the Year all four years. He just began his freshman year at Northwestern University and is a member of the men’s golf team. He is the only player from Illinois on the roster. This is Ethan’s first year receiving the Louis M. Brown scholarship.
Joe is a 2015 graduate of Northridge Prep in Niles. He was a four year Honor Roll student, member of the National Honor Society, and a top competitor on the men’s golf team. Joe has started his junior year at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He earned Patriot League All-Academic Team in 2016 and continues to be a leader on the golf course. This is Joe’s third year receiving the Louis M. Brown scholarship.
Kenneth is a 2016 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School, where he was a National Merit finalist, Hinsdale Central HS scholar, Illinois State scholar, and HP Scholar Honor Roll. Kenneth was the 2014 IHSA State Golf (3A) Individual Champion. He just started his sophomore year at Brown University majoring in economics, applied math and computer science and is also an integral part of the Men’s golf team. This is Kenneth’s second year receiving the Louis M. Brown scholarship.
