History: In 1962, Harry E. Radix started the match play event to promote competition between professionals and amateurs in the state of Illinois. Mr. Radix, former president of the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA), former member of the National PGA advisory committee, and captain of five U.S. Olympic figure skating teams, died in 1965 and left a bequest to continue the competition. The event and trophy are named in his honor.

Method of Play: 4-ball Nassau matches. Each match is worth three points (front nine, back nine, eighteen holes). Teams comprised of the Illinois PGA's top 11 professionals and the host golf professional playing as two-man teams against their top 12 amateur counterparts. The better ball of each two-man team will count and the low ball of the foursome will win the hole. The pair which wins the most holes on each nine will win one point and the pair which wins the most holes for the eighteen will win one point. If a point is tied each team wins one-half point. With a total of 18 points contested for, the team that accumulates more than 9 and 1/2 points wins the Radix Cup. If at the conclusion of the matches each team has accumulated 9 and 1/2 points, the previous year's winners retain the Cup.

Eligibility: The professionals and amateurs are chosen on a point system.
