EVENT: Pre-Qualifying will be played
in an 18-hole stroke play competition. All amateurs
and professionals who are not PGA TOUR or Nationwide
Tour members will pre-qualify and the successful 50
and ties will advance into the Monday Open Qualifying
competition. The Monday Open Qualifying will be an
18-hole stroke play event with four (4) qualifiers
advancing to the 2006 Cialis Western Open Championship
to be held July 6-9 at Cog Hill Golf & Country
Club in Lemont, Illinois. If there is a tie for the
last qualifying spot (s), a sudden death playoff will
commence immediately after the conclusion of play.
The Illinois PGA reserves the right to change the schedule
of play and locations as presently contemplated.
ELIGIBILITY: Professionals and Amateurs
with a handicap index when applied to the qualifying
course slope will generate a handicap of two (2) or
less. The Illinois Section PGA reserves the right to
verify the handicap index of amateurs and to refuse
anyone not meeting the requirements.
ENTRIES CLOSE: Non-PGA TOUR Members:
5:00 p.m. Local Time, on the second Friday preceding
the Open Qualifying Round (June 23). PGA TOUR and Nationwide
Tour Members: 12:00p.m. Local time on Saturday, July
1st, 2006.
FIELD SIZE: Field size for the Wednesday
pre-qualifier will be limited to the first 156 players
the successful 50 and ties will advance into the Monday
Open Qualifying competition. Field size for the Monday
Open Qualifying will be limited to approximately 78
players (including PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour members).
If an inordinate number of PGA Tour and Nationwide
Tour members enter Open Qualifying the field will be
expanded to accommodate them.
TEE SCHEDULE: One tee start from
7:00 a.m. on both qualifying dates.
CARTS AND CADDIES: Players & Caddies
shall walk at all times during qualifying rounds, except
otherwise permitted by the Rules Committee. Players
are not required to have a caddy; they may carry their
clubs or use a manual or motorized pull cart. Caddies
will be available, please call the golf shop to reserve
one.
PRACTICE ROUNDS: Practice round green
fees are complimentary, each player will be charged
a cart fee of $16.00. Please be sure to thank a member
of the golf staff. Please call the golf shop and speak
with Noel Allen or Jeff Vesevick well in advance to
schedule your tee time. Tee times WILL fill up fast!
All competitors’ names will be with the golf
shop staff. Allotted tee times will be set for competitors
for the week prior to the qualifier(s). Any conduct,
which shows disrespect for the tournament committee,
tournament regulations, or the traditional etiquette
of golf, shall constitute grounds for disciplinary
action and could result in disqualification.
DRIVING
RANGE: Available. Cash please. Range balls
will be provided by The Village Links of Glen Ellyn
on the morning of the qualifier(s).
LOCKER ROOM: Not available.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE: Available. A complimentary
lunch will be provided for all competitors in the field.
Please be sure to thank a member of the golf staff
and restaurant and banquet staff.
RESPONSIBILITY: All Competitors are
to adhere to these regulations. For further information
this policy is listed on Page 1 of the Illinois PGA
Section Tournament Rules & Regulations, Conduct,
Eligibility and Policies which can be viewed at www.ipga.com.
SPIKELESS POLICY: The use of traditional metal spikes is permitted
during the Competition. Soft spikes may be required during practice rounds
at the discretion of the host facilities.
DRESS CODE: By signing and/or paying
entry into the Western Open Qualifying, you agree to
conform to the PGA TOUR Dress Code. “Proper golfing
attire must be worn at all times during practice, tournament
qualifying and tournament proper rounds. The Tournament
Director or duly appointed staff may prohibit play
by those who do not conform to dress standards as established
by the Illinois PGA and the PGA TOUR.” This is
interpreted to mean the wearing of jeans, cut off shorts,
regular shorts, tank tops, tee shirts or anything of
that nature WILL NOT be permitted. Proper attire will
consist of long dress trousers and dress golf shirts
with collars. The dress code will be strictly enforced
and you are being alerted now so that you can come
prepared. This also applies to a player’s personal
grooming needs to be presented in a neat appearance.
Caddies: While on the host
facility property, caddies may wear either long pants
or tailored solid colored knee length shorts. Blue
jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts or shirts with no collar SHALL
NOT be worn. Smooth rubber sole shoes are required.
Golf shoes with traditional metal or soft spikes are
prohibited.
A player or caddy conducting himself/herself in a
manner unbecoming professional, or found to be using
or selling illegal substances, or using alcohol in
an abusive manner could result in the removal of the
player from the competition for conduct unbecoming
a professional.
FORFEITURE OF AMATEUR STATUS: An
amateur may declare himself a golf professional and
play as such provided he signs a letter of intent and
pays the additional entry fee PRIOR to beginning play
of the tournament proper.
SCORING AREA: An official
scoreboard will be located behind the clubhouse. Directly
in front of the scoreboard will be the official scoring
area for players to sign and return their scorecard.
This area will be roped off accordingly. Once the competitor
leaves this area their scorecard is deemed to be correct
and official, NO changes can be made.
TEE MARKERS: All competitors in the
field, including females, are required to play from
the same tee markers. There will ONLY be one set of
tee markers on each hole.
DIRECTIONS: From O’Hare: I-90
East to 294 South to I-88 West, to 53 North to Park
Blvd. Make a left, travel 1 mile, club is on the left.
