2022 Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship Players to Watch

GLENVIEW, Ill. – August 19, 2022 – The 2022 Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship will take place August 22-25 at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Illinois. This year marks the 100th Illinois PGA Professional Championship. The top 9 finishers will qualify for the 2023 PGA Professional Championship at Twin Warriors Golf Club at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa and Santa Ana Golf Club in Sana Ana Pueblo, New Mexico from April 30 – May 3.

This year’s field features eight past champions, including defending champion, Andy Mickelson (Mistwood Golf Club). Makray Memorial Golf Club will play host to the Section Championship for the first time in tournament history.

ROY BIANCALANA, 62
PGA Teaching Professional at Blackberry Oaks Golf Club
Biancalana has played in eight Illinois PGA Professional events in 2022, as well as the Illinois Open Championship. He finished T7 at the 73rd Illinois Open and was the Illinois PGA’s lowest finisher. Biancalana is also fresh off his Illinois Senior PGA Professional Championship victory. In 2021, Biancalana was the Errie Ball Illinois PGA Senior Player of the Year and was the runner-up for the Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year. He finished T19 in the 2021 Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship and is currently second on the 2022 Bernardi Player of the Year points list.

BRIAN CARROLL, 39
Head PGA Professional at The Hawk Country Club
Carroll has played in seven Illinois PGA events and the Illinois Open Championship so far this year. He was the runner-up at the 2022 Illinois PGA Match Play Championship at Elgin Country Club and also has a T2 finish at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at The Hawk Country Club. He finished T37 at the 73rd Illinois Open Championship at White Eagle Golf Club. In 2021, Carroll finished T8 at the Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship and qualified for the 2022 PGA Professional Championship. He currently leads the Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year points race.

GARRETT CHAUSSARD, 39
PGA Director of Instruction at Skokie Country Club
Chaussard has played in eight Illinois PGA events in 2022, and the Illinois Open Championship where he finished T16. In 2021, Chaussard finished T2 at the Nadler Golf Cars Illinois Open Championship to qualify for the PGA Professional Championship. At the 2022 PGA Professional Championship, Chaussard finished T66. He was the 2021 Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year and is currently in 10th place in this year’s points race.

CHRIS FRENCH, 36
Assistant PGA Professional at Aldeen Golf Club
French has played in six Illinois PGA Events and the Illinois Open so far in 2022. He finished T1 at the Stroke Play #2 at North Shore Country Club and was also runner-up at the Illinois National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship at Biltmore Country Club. He also finished T29 at the 73rd Illinois Open at White Eagle Golf Club. In 2021, French finished fourth in the Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship and qualified for the PGA Professional Championship. He is currently seventh on the 2022 Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year points list.

FRANK HOHENADEL, 39
Head PGA Professional at Mistwood Golf Club
Hohenadel is one of eight past Illinois PGA Professional Champions in this year’s field. Hohenadel got his win in 2011 at Medinah Country Club. Since then, he has finished inside the top 10 at this event six times, including a fifth-place finish last year. Hohenadel has played in six Illinois PGA events this year. His best finish came at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at The Hawk Country Club where he finished T2. He also finished T7 at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at Chicago Golf Club. His fifth-place finish in last year’s Illinois PGA Professional Championship qualified him for the 2022 PGA Professional Championship where he finished 72nd. Hohenadel is currently second in the Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year points race.

ANDY MICKELSON, 41
PGA Director of Golf at Mistwood GC
Mickelson is one of the eight past champions in this year’s event and is the defending champion of the Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship. Mickelson has played in nine Illinois PGA Events and the Illinois Open so far in 2022. He won the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at Elgin Country Club and finished T2 at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at The Hawk Country Club. He also finished sixth at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at Chicago Golf Club. His victory at the 2021 Illinois PGA Professional Championship qualified him for the 2022 PGA Professional Championship. Prior to 2019, Mickelson enjoyed a decorated playing career as an Associate, which included winning the 2015 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship. He is currently fourth in the Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year race.

MIKE SMALL, 56
Men’s Head Golf Coach at the University of Illinois
Small has won the Illinois PGA Professional Championship 13 times, including eight straight victories from 2003-2010. He also won the Section Championship in consecutive years in 2013 and 2014. Since his first victory in 2001, Small has never finished outside the top 10 at the Section Championship. Small has also won the Illinois Senior PGA Professional Championship five times. So far this year, Small has played in four Illinois PGA events. He finished second at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at Elgin Country Club and also won the XXIO Illinois Senior Open Championship at the Preserve at Oak Meadows. He also played in the 73rd Illinois Open Championship where he finished 23rd. Small is exempt into the 2023 PGA Professional Championship due to his win in 2009. Earlier this year, Small finished T33 at the PGA Professional Championship and was the low Illinois PGA Professional. In 2021, Small finished third at the Senior PGA Professional Championship and qualified for the 2022 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. He is currently ninth in the Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of Year race.

TIM STRENG, 37
PGA Teaching Professional at Wildcat Golf Academy
Streng has played in seven Illinois PGA events and the Illinois Open so far in 2022. His best finish came at the Illinois PGA Stroke Play at North Shore Country Club where he finished T7. In 2021, Streng finished T8 at the Nadler Golf Cars Illinois PGA Professional Championship and qualified for the 2022 PGA Professional Championship where he finished T74. He is currently fifth in the Illinois PGA Bernardi Player of the Year race.
