CHICAGO, Ill. – October 12, 2021 – Doug Bauman (Biltmore Country Club) won the 2021 Illinois PGA Senior Players Championship at Beverly Country Club on October 12. Due to inclement weather between round one and round two, the championship was shortened to 18 holes.

The Illinois PGA Senior Players Championship featured the top 32 players from the Illinois PGA Senior Errie Ball Player of the Year points race and was the final major on the Illinois PGA’s schedule.
Bauman, who was in the Championship Match at the Illinois PGA Senior Match Play Championship last week, carried his solid play into the Senior Players this week.

Bauman’s first round featured three birdies and a bogey on the front nine, which put him in a three-way tie for first place at 2-under-par. The birdies continued to fall for Bauman on the back nine who birdied the tenth hole, then made back-to-back-to-back birdies on holes 12-14. He also carded two bogeys on the back nine for a 4-under-par 67 in round one and a two-stroke lead.

Bauman along with, Mike Small (University of Illinois), John Varner (Beverly Country Club), Roy Biancalana (Black Sheep Golf Club), Michael Troy (Zigfield Troy Golf Club), John Cleary (Exmoor Country Club), Don Morris (Diversey Golf Range), Kurt Rogers (Champaign Country Club) and Kevin Marion (Old Elm Club) will now turn their attention to the 33rd Senior PGA Professional Championship set to take place October 21-24 at the PGA Golf Club.
