Flack Captures National Car Rental Illinois Assistant PGA Professional Title; Earns Berth in 43rd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship

Elgin, Ill. – July 15, 2019 – Kevin Flack (Mauh-Nah-Tee-See CC), won the National Car Rental Illinois Assistant PGA Professional Championship Monday at Elgin Country Club in a playoff. Flack will lead four Illinois PGA Professionals at the 43rd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship.

The National Championship, supported by Srixon, Cleveland Golf, XXIO and Golf Advisor and John Deere will be held at PGA Golf Club, Port St. Luce, Fla. on Nov. 14-17.

Flack turned in a two-round total of 6 -under-par 138 to force a playoff against Chris French (Aldeen Golf Club). After tying on the first three playoff holes, Flack prevailed on the fourth playoff hole to secure the Illinois Assistant PGA Professional title.

In total, Flack registered 12 birdies, including five in-a-row on Nos. 10-14 in round two, 15 pars and one eagle throughout the two-round tournament.  

French carded 10 birdies and 23 pars in route to a tournament total 6-under-par 138. French’s second place finish was good enough to qualify for the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship for the second straight year.

Jeff Kellen (Maunh-Nah-Tee-See GC) and Sean Gervais (Chicago GC) will join French and Flack at the 43rd National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship. Both Kellen and Gervais carded 3-under-par 141s to secure the third and fourth qualifying spots for the Illinois PGA.

The National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship brings together a field of 132 contestants representing the PGA of America’s 41 nationwide Sections and features a total purse of $150,000. All rounds will be played on the Wanamaker Course. A cut after 36 holes of play to the low 70 scorers and ties will be made. 

Begun in 1977, the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship is modeled after the PGA Professional Championship, with a field of PGA Professionals and PGA Associates who advanced through 41 Section Championships conducted from May through October this year.

If eligibility is met and maintained, the champion earns a berth in the 53rd PGA Professional Championship being April 26-29, 2020, at Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa in Austin, Texas.
