GLENVIEW, Ill. – May 5, 2021 – The Illinois PGA Foundation has announced its schedule of PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) golf instruction clinics for military veterans for the 2021 season. The first clinic will begin this week, May 6, and will be held each Thursday through June 10 at Pine Meadow Golf Club in Mundelein.

Twenty veterans are already enrolled in the program that will meet on the range at Pine Meadow GC. Taught by PGA Professional instructors trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency, the program will introduce the game to these veterans to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America and is administered locally by the Illinois PGA Foundation working in conjunction with RevelationGolf. The program is free to veterans and will cover several aspects of the game including driving, chipping, putting and long iron work. The culmination of each clinic will result in an on-course session which will allow the veterans to put their skills to the test.

The other two clinics, which consist of six sessions that meet once a week, are set for June 23 to July 28 at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in North Chicago and September 2 to October 7 at Pine Meadow GC. Each clinic can host up to 20 veterans. Registration is open for the Summer clinic at Veterans Memorial beginning June 23. CLICK HERE to register for the Summer clinic. Registration for the Fall clinic will open approximately one month prior to the start date. Look for details at ipga.com.

“PGA HOPE is a tremendous program to help veterans through various rehabilitation processes and situations and offers an enjoyable and challenging recreational activity,” said Carrie Williams, Executive Director of the Illinois PGA Section and Foundation. “We’re thrilled to work with RevelationGolf, Pine Meadow Golf Club, Veterans Memorial Golf Course and an outstanding roster of Illinois PGA Professionals to make this program possible for veterans to learn the game.”

RevelationGolf is continuing its long-standing relationship with the Illinois PGA Foundation to provide PGA HOPE program training for PGA Professionals and will assist in managing the clinics as well. Donna Strum, Executive Director for RevelationGolf, is a clinical certified recreation therapeutic specialist who has specialized in working with veterans and teaching accessible golf for nearly 15 years.

“Over the years, we’ve had a great relationship with the Illinois PGA Foundation and look forward to teaming up again on PGA HOPE. This valuable program allows us to bring the game of golf to veterans who need more recreational opportunities to support their rehabilitation efforts and provide a rewarding activity each day,” said Strum.
