Illinois PGA Section Announces New Hires

GLENVIEW, Ill. – October 3, 2019 – The Illinois PGA Section has announced some recent staff additions as it continues to fulfill its mission of growing the game and serving more than 800 PGA Professional members and associates in the Chicagoland, Northern Illinois and Central Illinois areas.

Kevin Quinn and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Mavrogenes joined the Illinois PGA Section at the beginning of the 2019 season. Quinn joined as the Section’s new Membership and Communications Manager and Mavrogenes is the new Player Development and Foundation Programs Manager.

“We are extremely excited to make these staff announcements that will strengthen our Section, Foundation and the ways in which we serve our membership and fulfill our mission of growing the game,” said Carrie Williams, Executive Director of the Illinois PGA Section and CEO of the Illinois PGA Foundation. “We have a solid team dedicated to telling the story of our PGA Professionals and delivering on key services for our membership and partners, building our brand and executing major programs such as Drive, Chip & Putt, PGA Jr. League and our Illinois PGA tournament schedule as well as.”

Following two years at the Iowa PGA Section, Quinn recently moved into the Manager of Membership and Communications position at the Illinois PGA Section. In this new role, Quinn will administer the Section’s membership operations and manage communications and social media activities along with website content at www.ipga.com. Prior to joining the Iowa PGA Section, Quinn worked communications internships for the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and the University of Iowa Athletic Communications department. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 2017 with a B.A. in Communications Studies and a minor in Sports and Recreation Management.

Mavrogenes joins the Illinois PGA Section following three years as the Junior Golf Instructor at River Forest Country Club where she taught golf lessons and coached the club’s PGA Jr. League team. In her new role, Mavrogenes will manage the Section’s player development programs including Drive, Chip and Putt and PGA Jr. League. She will also assist with the Illinois PGA Foundation programs such as Birdies for Charity, the Support Youth Golf License Plate program, the Illinois PGA Scholarship program, the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame and more. An avid traveler, she also launched a travel blog documenting her global trips. Mavrogenes graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2017 with a B.A. in International Studies and minors in English Literature and Italian. She was a member of the university’s women’s golf team for all four years.
