Orrick Wins Second Straight CIPGA Player of the Year

GLENVIEW, Ill. –November 8, 2019 – Steve Orrick (Country Club of Decatur) is the 2019 Central Illinois PGA Chapter (CIPGA) Player of the Year. Orrick played in eight total Illinois PGA events in 2019, including four CIPGA events. This marks the second consecutive CIPGA Player of the Year honor for Orrick, who has now won this honor four of the last seven years.

CIPGA Player of the Year points are earned through CIPGA Stroke Play Events, the CIPGA Match Play Championship and the CIPGA Championship. Players earn points based on their finish against the entire field. Points are also weighted based of the strength and size of the field.
   
“Steve has long been one of the top players in both our Chapter and Section tournament events and it’s wonderful to see his efforts rewarded with the CIPGA Chapter Player of the Year honor this season,” said Carrie Williams, Executive Director of the Illinois PGA Section.”

Orrick finished inside the top five at all four CIPGA events he played in this season, including his lone victory at the CIPGA Stroke Play #1 at Lincolnshire Fields. He finished T2 at the CIPGA Championship at Country Club of Peoria after finishing with a tournament total 1-over-par 145. Orrick also finished second at the CIPGA Pro-Assistant at Country Club of Peoria, where he played with Daniel Finney.

In addition to CIPGA events, Orrick also had a strong showing at Illinois PGA Section events in 2019. He finished T3 at the Stroke Play #3 at Onwentsia Club and at the Illinois PGA Players Championship at Crystal Tree Golf and Country Club. Orrick also had a pair of T7 finishes at the Stroke Play #6 at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club (Dubsdread) and Stroke Play #4 at Stonewall Orchard Golf Club.

Orrick was the third best Illinois PGA Professional finisher at the 70th Illinois Open with a T11 finish. He carded a tournament total two-under-par 214. Orrick’s lowest round of the year was a 69, which he carded at two separate tournaments. (Illinois PGA Players Championship and CIPGA Stroke Play #1).
