Please indicate which committee or committees you would be interested in supporting before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11. Committee Chairs will then review submissions and draft their Committee rosters for Board review duing the Section’s Business Planning Session on Monday, December 16. Submission of the form below does not guarantee a Member’s selection for Committee service. All Members submitting committee interest will be informed of the Committee Chairs’ decisions no later than the week of January 6, 2025.

ASSISTANTS COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Claire Castetter, PGA
The Illinois PGA Assistants Committee works to provide access to information, both career-orientated and otherwise, in an effort to develop all Assistant professionals within the Illinois PGA into well rounded and prepared golf professionals. The Committee is charged with working with the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
- Plan events and provide resources in the form of educational and social opportunities for assistants and associates
- Provide guidance to Associates to assist them in earning their membership
EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Ian Brown, PGA
The Illinois PGA Employee Committee will serve as the conduit between the Board of Directors, PGA Career Consultant and Section membership, working closely with the Executive Director and Association Secretary.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
Committee Co-Chairs: Andy Mickelson, PGA | Ian Grant, PGA
The Illinois PGA Finance Committee provides financial oversight for the association. The Vice President of the Section will serve as the chair of the committee. It is recommended that the Finance Committee seat at least one past president of the association, one current independent director, and one outside financial expert. The Committee is charged with working with the Executive Director and the rest of the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
- Develop and approve an annual operating budget
- Monitor adherence to the budget
- Set long-range financial goals along with funding strategies to achieve them
- Present financial reports to the Board of Directors
- Create, approve, and update (as necessary) policies that help ensure the assets of the organization are protected
- Work with auditor to present the audit report to the full board of directors
- Create, approve and update (as necessary) the investment policy
OPENS COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Curtis Malm, PGA
The Illinois PGA Opens Committee establishes policy for and reviews and prioritizes strategy for the Section’s Open Championships. The chair of the Tournament Committee will sit on the Opens Committee. One member of the Partnership Committee will sit on the Committee. The Committee is charged with working with the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
Establish and review policy as it relates to host sites, formats, eligibility requirements, entry fee price points and purse payouts for Illinois PGA Open Championships (Illinois Open, Illinois Senior Open, Illinois Super Senior Open).
- Annually review and approve the Opens schedules of events
- Work closely with the Partnership Committee to source and prioritize leads for the Illinois PGA Partner Program
PARTNERSHIP COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Andrew Stevens, PGA
The Illinois PGA Partnership Committee establishes policy for and reviews and prioritizes strategy for the Section’s Partner Program. Representatives from the Tournament, Opens and Pro-Ams and Finance Committee will sit on the Partnership Committee. The Committee is charged with working with the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director and the rest of the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
- Source and prioritize leads, both inside and out of the golf industry, for the Illinois PGA Partner Program
- Make recommendations to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors as to the percentage of partnership funds that should be allocated to each project
- Review and ensure execution and fulfillment of all sponsorship contracts
- Retain 90% of all existing partners from year-to-year
PRO-AMS COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Rob Sweno, PGA
The Illinois PGA Pro Ams Committee establishes policy for and reviews and prioritizes strategy for the Section’s Pro-Am events. One member of the Partnership Committee will sit on the Committee. The Committee is charged with working with the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
Establish and review policy as it relates to host sites, formats, eligibility requirements, entry fee price points and purse payouts for Illinois PGA Pro Ams
- Annually review and approve the Pro Ams schedules of events
- Work closely with the Partnership Committee to source and prioritize leads for the Illinois PGA Partner Program
PUBLIC RELATIONS / COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Jamie Nieto, PGA
The Illinois PGA Public Relations and Communications Committee establishes policy for, and reviews and prioritizes strategy for internal and external promotion of the Illinois PGA, its member professionals, and the Illinois PGA Foundation. A representative of each seated Illinois PGA Committee and a representative of the Illinois PGA Foundation Board will sit on this committee. The Committee is charged with working with the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
- Promote the brand and activities of the Illinois PGA, its member professionals and the Illinois PGA Foundation.
- Promote the initiatives, programs and projects of each Illinois PGA Committee.
- Establish PR & Communications Policy.
- Review effectiveness of PR & Communications Policy.
- Establish and maintain a formalized Illinois PGA communications schedule.
- Prioritize branding and marketing initiatives and vehicles based on their impact on the Section Membership and Foundation constituents.
- Recommend content for website and social media.
- Recruit member involvement in content recommendations for website and social media.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Committee Co-Chairs: Vince Juarez, PGA | TJ Sullivan, PGA
The Illinois PGA Professional Development Committee establishes policy for, and reviews and prioritizes strategy for member and associate education and member service requirement-related programming. A representative of the Employment and Assistants Committee will sit on the Professional Development Committee. The Committee is charged with working with the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
- Conceptualize, vet and review educational opportunities that will advance the careers and well-being of the Section’s member and apprentice professionals.
- Develop innovative programming that enhances the skill sets of members and apprentices
- Provide enough programming for Illinois PGA members to meet their Professional Development Requirements without having to participate in outside education
TEACHING AND COACHING / PLAYER ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Kevin Weeks, PGA
The Illinois PGA Teaching and Coaching Committee focuses on strategizing and providing Member and Associate education in the areas of teaching and coaching, specifically. The committee will work to provide annual member service requirement-related programming focused on the latest teaching methods and coaching styles. This Committee will also consider growth of the game opportunities for the Section that exist outside of the Illinois PGA Foundation mission. A representative from the Assistants Committee will sit on the Teaching and Coaching/Player Engagement Committee.
TOURNAMENTS COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Andy Mickelson, PGA
The Illinois PGA Tournament Committee establishes policy for and reviews and prioritizes strategy for the Section’s tournament program. The chair of the Opens and Pro-Am Committee will sit on the Tournament Committee. One Assistant Golf Professional, one Senior Golf Professional, and one Illinois PGA Rules Official will sit on the Tournament Committee. The Committee is charged with working with the Director of Tournament Operations and the rest of the Illinois PGA staff to execute the following:
- Establish and review policy as it relates to host sites, formats, eligibility requirements, entry fee price points and purse payouts for Illinois PGA tournaments.
- Annually review and approve the tournament schedule
- Work closely with the Sponsorship Committee to source and prioritize leads for the Illinois PGA Partner Program
WOMEN’S COMMITTEE
Committee Chair: Claire Castetter, PGA
The Illinois PGA Women’s Committee establishes policy for and reviews and prioritizes strategy for programming for current and future female Illinois PGA Members and Associates. The Committee will be made up of female Members of the Illinois PGA and is charged with working with the Illinois PGA staff to execute programming that could include, but is not limited to the following:
- Tournaments
- Social Activities
- Mentorship Programs
- Recruiting Activities
- Service Projects
- Growth of the Game Programs
The Committee will also provide a member representative when reviewing initiatives and policies surrounding the Illinois Women’s Open.
