Illinois PGA to Host Fundraiser for PGA National Day of Hope

Oct 11, 2022

GLENVIEW, Ill. – October 7, 2022 – The Illinois PGA is hosting a fundraiser to support local PGA Hope programming for active-duty military veterans. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise enough money to give each 2022 PGA HOPE participant in Illinois a free round of golf. The National PGA REACH has agreed to a dollar-for-dollar match of any donations (up to $5,000). The online fundraiser will open Tuesday, October 11, and will remain open until Friday, November 11.

PGA HOPE programming has allowed the Illinois Section to partner and develop relationships with golf courses, park districts, and veterans support programs to create a series of impactful clinics. In addition, PGA HOPE clinics have provided opportunities for PGA Professionals to continue their involvement in teaching and to grow the game of golf, which is a vital part of the PGA of America mission. The Section has successfully grown the PGA HOPE program over the years, leading to high participation in 2022, with nearly 150 military members joining a clinic this year.

“The PGA HOPE program is really terrific for all the Veterans who participate. The clinics allow Veteran golfers to get professional instruction in a fun, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere that helps them elevate their skill and enjoy the game.” – Jim Nelson, U.S. Army veteran, PGA HOPE graduate, and PGA HOPE Ambassador for the Illinois Section.
