75TH ILLINOIS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP LEADERBOARD
FLOSSMOOR, Ill. – August 5, 2024 – First-round play at the 75th Illinois Open has been suspended due to weather. Following two weather delays, the Illinois Open Tournament Committee was forced to suspend play. Round one will resume Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. at Flossmoor Golf Club.
The first round began with a three-hour weather delay due to thunderstorms in the area. The first wave got underway at 10:30 a.m. The majority of the morning wave was able to finish their rounds, however, a second two-hour and forty-five-minute delay forced play to pause again leaving four groups in the morning wave with at least three holes to play.
In that morning wave was Drew Shepherd (Hinsdale, IL) who is currently leading at 5-under-par. Shepherd still has two holes left to play in round one but holds a two-stroke lead.
The leaders in the clubhouse sit at 3-under-par. Luke Gannon (Monticello, IL), Charlie Nikitas (Glenview, IL), and Chase Walts (a) (Flower Mound, TX) all carded opening round 69s.
2022 Illinois Open Champion, David Perkins (East Peoria, IL), and Tommy Kuhl (Morton, IL) are also sitting at 3-under-par, but they were unable to finish their rounds and will wrap up round one tomorrow morning.
Players who were unable to finish their first round will resume play from their previously marked spots at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow. The final eight groups who have not started their first rounds will begin their rounds off of holes one and 10 at 7:00 a.m. as well with 10-minute intervals for the groups behind them. Round two will begin at noon.
